I can’t stand up, for falling down…

I can’t stand up, for falling down…

… as the great Elvis Costello once sang, or if you prefer Britney “Oops, I did it again”!

That’s right I fell over again, not once, but twice, on the same night, within the same hour! For those that don’t know, I am considered an expert in falling over, if it was an Olympic event I would win gold every time. I’ve been doing it ever since I could stand up, so just over 50 years. My knees are covered in scars and are a bit tender when I kneel.

The Elephants Downstairs

I think a fair indicator that you are aging is a growing intolerance to background noise. A busy bar or club filled with people shrieking to be heard over the pounding EDM, no longer holds the same allure it once did. A trendy restaurant where they cram you on to benches around shared tables, affording little privacy, never mind personal space, is not the place for a quiet chat about your upcoming trip to the doctors!

Lazy Sunday…. Morning

I woke up on a pleasant Sunday morning in February, not too cold, blue sky trying to break through the clouds, you know the sort of day I mean. I felt refreshed and imagined the dark circles that had surrounded my eyes the night before were gone. I had no intention of looking in the mirror to check, you know, just in case, as I wanted to remain positive about the day ahead.
