About Me

I haven’t found any publications or blogs aimed at people like me, single, childless, independent women, of a certain age, trying to navigate their way through life. So, with my new found ability to write, thanks to my last job, I’ve decided to start one myself!

Society looks at us askance, we’re odd, don’t fit in to the popular view of how a 50+ year old woman should behave. We’re told our opinions don’t matter because we haven’t got children and that we’re not normal, whatever that is, because we aren’t in a relationship. Employers take advantage, because you have no family calls on your time, so you always end up staying late and working over Christmas. You are made to feel extremely unreasonable should you, sin of all sins, want to take take time off during school holidays and on top of all that, you have the menopause to deal with.

Who’d be a single middle-aged woman!?!

Well me actually, yes life isn’t perfect, but it’s not all bad. My home is how I want it to be, filled with furniture I’ve chosen and adorned with pictures and ornaments that make me smile. I’m able to watch whichever TV programmes and listen to any music that takes my fancy and best of all, I only do the washing up if I feel like it.

I’ll post when there’s something on my mind, or something interesting happens that I think you should know about. Now, this could be about my beloved Crystal Palace Football Club, politics, holidays (I love to travel), friends or family, especially my lovely, beautiful, delightful niece and nephew, but could equally be about the niggles of a middle-aged woman.
